Wear One, Share One: Transition Projects Mask Partnership

Wear One, Share One: Transition Projects Mask Partnership

February 24, 2021

The Looptworks community never ceases to amaze and inspire. During our “Wear One, Share One” campaign, you stepped up to the challenge of keeping our neighbors safely covered through your mask purchases and donations. We pledged to match your mask purchases 1-to-1 with a mask donation to the team at Transition Projects, and you added $1,000 in direct contributions. All together we donated 380 high quality reusable masks to help the front line staff of Transitions Projects in their important work. Thank you all for your generous support.

What To Do with Your Clothes When You're Done with Them

What To Do with Your Clothes When You're Done with Them

January 27, 2020

We’ve all been there. You open up your closet to put away your jeans, and out topples that single-wear dress you wore fore a wedding, that ugly sweater your aunt bought that you were too polite to refuse, and those “may-come-in-useful-one-day” tees which have been haphazardly stacked in the corner. It’s time for a cleanse; but what to do with all these clothes? According to the EPA, over 10 million tons of textiles were sent to landfill in 2015, and only 14.2% of all shoes and clothing were recycled that same year. That was five years ago, and those figures have only grown more extreme. The amount of energy and water used from the growing and harvesting of resources, to the manufacturing and distribution of clothes, is alarming. Even more alarming is that many of these items will only be worn a handful of times before they are tossed in the trash, because people simply do not know what else to do with them. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to responsibly re-home or reuse your unwanted items.

8 Apps That Will Help You Decrease Your Footprint

8 Apps That Will Help You Decrease Your Footprint

January 27, 2020

It is no secret that most of us spend too long staring at our screens: scrolling aimlessly through social media feeds, ogling at things we will likely never buy and, finally, ending up once more on a “funniest cats compilation” with little knowledge of how we got there. It is difficult to live in this digital age without our phones, laptops and tablets – but there is hope! Instead of perusing the web for useless content, why not spend your screen time doing something that will actively help you, those around you and the planet, too? There are plenty of “green” apps designed to cut your carbon, source ethical products, sell or swap within your community, or help you reduce your footprint on the earth. Here is a round-up of some of our favorites.

5 Ways to Make Your Clothes Last Longer in 2020

January 27, 2020

It takes over 700 gallons of water to make a single cotton shirt, and the average American throws away a staggering 80 pounds of textiles a year. This wasteful approach to our clothes is having a devastating impact on the planet, and will only get worse unless we can change our habits and create better, more sustainable industries. It’s time for change! Fast fashion is out; your garments are here to stay. Here are our top tips for extending the life of your clothes and – good news – they are really simple to work into your daily routi

It can be completely daunting knowing where to begin lessening your impact on the planet.  What to focus on first? Plastic pollution or carbon emissions? Can I only buy locally-made products? Will I even have an impact as just one person?

These ten individual actions all add up to create one, powerful movement across the globe.

Being a B Corporation is in Our DNA - Here's Why

Being a B Corporation is in Our DNA - Here's Why

November 30, 2019

If you know Looptworks, you know it all started with a problem - one of waste within the apparel industry. But founder Scott Hamlin quickly saw that the waste didn’t stop there.
It was everywhere. It was a problem that he knew needed to be solved outside of any singular industry, but across all of them. So he founded Looptworks.
Not long after it's inception, it became very clear to Scott that business can be built as a tool for good.

10 Ways To Be A More Eco-Conscious Consumer Year-Round

10 Ways To Be A More Eco-Conscious Consumer Year-Round

November 15, 2019

The amount we buy has gone up, while the number of times we use a product has gone down. This is contributing to waste and overuse of earth's resources in a big way.

But we can choose to be more conscious about how we consume. So as we head into the holiday season and far, far beyond, we hope you'll choose to waste less, choose to wear and use something longer, choose to take better care of our clothes and belongings, and choose better quality products from the beginning.
