After numerous shows, Bon Iver was left with excess merch from previous tours. But they didn't want it to go to waste, so they turned to Looptworks.

For over 13 years, Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest has hosted an annual fundraising gala, "Power of the Purse," featuring handbags and purses made from local designers. As part of the event, each unique piece is auctioned off in the end with all proceeds going directly to Girls Inc..

As a part of this years POP, Looptworks joined forces again to create another bag. Each purse is typically assigned to a single celeb in Portland, but we were chosen as designers for this year’s Traveling Purse, a bag that will travel every week to a different local celebrity.

In honor of Earth Month, we wanted to highlight a few of our fellow certified B Corporations. We are proud to be part of a growing B-Corp community here in Portland, and wish to continue growing the movement. These businesses help us reach our collective goal of becoming a sustainable city that continues to strive towards a progressive and environmentally conscious city.

From the very start, Looptworks was founded as a force for good. Our goal: to bring an end to waste. So, we've strived only to manufacture products using materials that already exist.

Preserving air and water is a side effect of utilizing pre and post-consumer materials.

The design of the classic duffel bag has come a long way since its initial inception as a military issued carryall. Early iterations took the form of a top loading cylindrical hold all bag with a drawstring closure. These bags were practical, but they were anything but pretty.

Nowadays, duffels have been created to take on any scenario - the weekender bag, carryall and the gym bag all have a place and purpose.

Our tote went through a few phases of redevelopment to create the best version we could.

“We redeveloped it twice to make it even better than before,” said Kramer.

We teamed up with the U of O athletic department and Sports Management Program to upcycle a collection of exclusive fan gear from authentic athletic uniforms.

Many of the items we create from excess leather come from factories we work with overseas. The sizes of the hides and pieces available often play into the design of our products...
