Have you ever noticed that the apples in today’s grocery stores don’t taste like apples?
On the outside they may be large and lustrous, but on the inside, they’re mealy and bland. That’s how most things are made these days. Beautiful, but with no substance. If you’ve ever attempted to move an IKEA bookshelf across town, you know what we're talking about. It may have looked beautiful when you first assembled it, but now it’s out on the curb.
With Loopt Classics, we created… well, a classic. A labor of love. An heirloom. An homage to the golden age of American craftsmanship in which beauty was a natural byproduct of attending to every detail with uncompromising quality.
It begins with the material. The leather for Loopt Classics came from Langlitz, the family-owned business that defined the genre for today’s motorcycle jacket, and continues to make the finest leathers in the world.
Family owned since 1947, Langlitz defined the genre for today's motorcycle jacket.
Langlitz Leathers are a symbol of quality and an icon of motorcycle heritage. A 1950's Langlitz Cossack jacket recently went at auction for $15,000.
Langlitz jackets have been the go-to choice for the Hells Angels and have been worn by Johnny Depp, Bruce Springsteen, Benicio Del Toro, and Neil Young.
Before Langlitz became a household name in Hollywood, they were a family owned business, building a reputation for quality and craftsmanship one jacket at a time. Langlitz now has 70 years of experience hand-selecting the longest lasting leather on the planet. Today, the crew at Langlitz continues the tradition that Ross Langlitz (pictured) started. Their hides are tough enough to save your skin when you wipe out going 60. And we figured that if the leather was tough enough to protect a rider, then it was the right material to make sure our Loopt Classics products would withstand a lifetime of use.
From soup to nuts, Loopt Classics is 100% made in America. (1) The hides are raised in New York, Texas and Nebraska. (2) The hides are tanned and become leather in Wisconsin. (3) The finished leather is then sent to Langlitz shop in Portland, OR. (4) Langlitz' excess leather is sent 30 minutes down the road where we turn it into Loopt Classics.
As every craftsman knows, a real work of art is born from the details, which is why we sweated the small stuff for each piece. High quality brass hardware, YKK zippers, and antique brass rivets for reinforced durability result in pieces that are as bulletproof as the leather they’re made from.
We chose a minimal, timeless design for each piece so that you’ll be using your Loopt Classics long after your wardrobe goes out of style. Over a lifetime of use, the leather will soften and develop an antique patina, resulting in a travel companion that wears the scrapes and bruises of your adventures. We want you to use your Loopt Classics until you’re old and grey, and then pass it on to your kids. Because that’s how we used to make things in this country. With beauty and substance.
Each piece in the Loopt Classics Collection is backed by our lifetime guarantee.
